Food Service Sanitation Program
The Illinois Department of Public Health requires that all food service establishments that prepare and serve food will be required to have a certified food service manager on the premises at all times food is being handled. Also, certificate holders must renew their license by attending an approved food safety refresher course.
The Illinois Food Retailers Association is offering both the initial 15-Hour Food Service Sanitation Certificate Course and the Sanitation Certificate Renewal Course in many areas throughout the state.
Cost includes course book, instruction, and exam. Certification exam administered on last day. State certificate fees are charged directly to each student upon successful completion of their certification exam.
In order that we may have adequate course materials available for each class, you must pre-register.
Registration Process for Full Course and Renewal Course
Pre-registration is required. Please click on the link below to print out the registration form. Indicate "Full Course" or "Renewal Course" for each students name. Fax or send completed form to the Illinois Food Retailers Association. You can also scan and email the registration form to ddurkin@ilfood.org All courses listed are currently available.
For Renewal Classes, each student must bring a copy of their current certificate. There is no grace period for the State Sanitation Certificate. If your Certificate is expired you must take the Full Course.
We encourage members to register as many employees as possible who work in the food preparation area.
Online Courses
We now offer the 15 hour full course and the 5 hour State Renewal Course online via your computer. This online training is offered in both English or Spanish. Once you have completed the 15 hour online course, you may then come into one of our eligible locations to take your state exam. There is no testing required for the 5 hour renewal course.

In-Class Training cost:
$170 per person for 2-Day 15-hour training course.
$75 per person for STATE Certificate renewal course.
$125 per person for STATE & CHICAGO Certificate renewal course.
Online Training Cost:
$185 per person for 15 hour online training course.
$100 per person 5 hour online renewal course.
ServSafe® Training Cost:
$225 per person for 2-Day 15-hour training course- ServSafe®

Registration Information
COST:
$120.00 per person for 15-hour two- day full course
$65.00 per person for one-day renewal course (Refresher Class is held on the first day of the 2-Day course)
Online Spanish Training
Online training will be in Spanish - Your choice of taking exam in English or we can special order a Spanish exam.
Cost:
$185 per person for 15-hour online Spanish training with English State Exam
$215 per person if ordering Spanish Exam
